Two schools of the University of Minho, the Institute of Education and the School of Psychology, joined aiming at strengthening the interdisciplinary and application domains of Developmental Psychology as well as embracing the cutting-edge topics of Developmental Science today, and creating a stimulating and enjoyable scientific forum for the international community of senior and young researchers in Developmental Psychology and its related disciplines. • Gene-Environment  Developmental Models
  • Developmental Neurosciences
  • Social and Cross Cultural Developmental Psychology
  • Applied Developmental Psychology
  • Developmetrics

Each of the five integrative blocks will be consolidated from differing levels and a variety of presentational formats that include keynotes, invited symposia, symposia, thematic sessions, workshops, invited roundtables, thematic poster sessions and poster exhibitions. Yet, informal settings to meet the leaders in campus will endure the thrill and opportunity of face-to-face conversations outside the conference rooms.

Outside the university campus lies the city of Braga and its surroundings. Braga is situated in the North of Portugal and easy to access from Porto International Airport (50 minutes by train). Founded in the Roman times as Bracara Augusta, Braga hauls more than 2,000 years of history to its recent election as European Youth Capital in 2012 as a mark of its everlasting culture and renovating energy.

Message from the President of EADP

Dear colleagues,

As President of the European Association of Developmental Psychology
(EADP), I would like to invite you to the 17th Conference of the European
Association of Developmental Psychology (ECDP17). ECDP17 will take place
between the 8th and 12th of September, 2015, in Braga, Portugal.

The chairs of ECDP17, Ana Almeida and Isabel Soares, have worked together with EADP council members to produce an interesting invited program. Eight keynote speakers and 10 invited symposia will address cutting-edge issues
in developmental science.  In addition, the scientific program will be
further enriched by the presentations of the awardees of the William
Thierry Preyer Award for Excellence in Research on Human Development and
of the George Butterworth Young Scientist Award. Finally, a rich
preconference program that addresses conceptual and methodological issues
related to latest developments in developmental science will be most
rewarding particularly for young scholars.

We believe that an inspiring scientific program that will take place in
the context of a beautiful Portuguese city will give both young and senior
colleagues the opportunity to have a productive and fun time during the
 days of our conference.

During the period 2013-2015 the EADP embarked on a new goal – the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge to inform European public policy and the broader public of relevant developmental research. Accordingly, for the first time at an EADP conference, we are organizing a debate on the translation of developmental science into meaningful recommendations for policy makers in Europe and beyond. How can developmental scientists communicate their research findings to inform public policy and improve the chances that their recommendations will be adopted? With this goal in mind, we have invited Professor Rainer Silbereisen, Jena University, and Professor Christiane Spiel, University of Vienna, to organize the first debate.

Frosso Motti-Stefanidi

President of EADP
