The corona pandemic still has us under control. One thing is clear: after more than a year of restrictions, “pandemic fatigue ” is spreading more and more in the population. Many people are no longer ready to follow the corona restrictions without exception. They are demotivated, desperate and sometimes unwilling.

How to deal with the challenge of "pandemic fatigue" and what (psychological) solutions are available, Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, in his lecture “ Pandemic fatigue - Facing a new mental health challenge. What has to be done? "As part of the new lecture series" Psychologie aktuell "of the Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP) report. The lecture will take place on Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. via Zoom.

Dr. Hans Kluge has been Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) since February 2020 and controls health policy work in 58 countries with a total of around 900 million inhabitants ( you can find more information on Dr. Hans Kluge here> ).

Abstract: Governments across the world are reporting pandemic fatigue in their populations; a natural reaction to a prolonged emergency, yet with a potential to adversely affect the wellbeing of populations as well as efforts to control the spread of the virus. Dr Hans Kluge will deliver a keynote speech on the topic of public pandemic fatigue, including how pandemic fatigue expresses itself, and how it may be monitored in population surveys. He will present WHO recommendations on how to respond to and address public pandemic fatigue. Dr Kluge will also invite speakers to discuss the possible immediate and longer-term impacts of pandemic fatigue on the resilience of populations, including their ability to cope with and later recover from the pandemic.

Participation in the lecture is free of charge. The lecture by Dr. Kluge takes place in English.
